We bring the spa to you - because traveling can be stressful!
Bunnies (piggies, chinnies, hammies + ratties) are beautiful souls all day everyday. But because we've domesticated them, they need a little bit of help trimming their nails, cleaning scent glands, and brushing off excess hair.
The Bun Chia Burrow offers mobile grooming services within 20-35 miles of Long Beach, CA (90808). We come directly to your home for an in-house spa experience, eliminating the stress of car rides and unfamiliar environments. Your pet receives professional grooming in the comfort and safety of their own space.
We will pamper your rabbit/s for an hour and a half, so you don't have to groom for another 4-8 weeks. All services can be scheduled à la carte or as a complete spa package.
We use a variety of brushes and nontool techniques appropriate for your pet’s fur type, and sanitize all grooming tools between clients using Rescue (the standard cleanser used at veterinarian clinics) plus UV Sterilizer for 90 minutes.
All spa guests receive complimentary treats from popular small businesses like BunnymadeNYC and Buttercup's Bunny Boutique.
We are now accepting appointments for Friday-Monday from 10am to 4pm. We are usually booked 5-7 weeks in advance.
Appointments are scheduled in advance. As a mobile clinic, we operate within 35 mile radius south of the 90808 zip code, and 20 mile radius north of the 90808 zip code. Please email if you are out of range so that we may recommend an alternative service provider or make case-by-case accommodations.
All intake forms + deposits must be submitted 12 hours prior to your appointment/s.

Rabbit-Specialist Grooming, In Your Home
Every spa day is performed by SD Alejo-Chia: BCB's sole groomer and rabbit-specialist. Because it is always the same person, SD gets to know your rabbit individually - their fur pattern, their personality, their preferences and limits. Your rabbit will always receive a consistent groom from someone who remembers them. Availability is limited by design.
All tools are freshly washed and sanitized between every client group and selected specifically for your rabbit's coat type. We work at your rabbit's pace and in their environment to reduce stress - consent is the foundation of our grooming practice, not an afterthought.
BCB is not a dog groomer who also does rabbits. We are rabbit people who groom.

Prefer to come to us? Join our monthly on-site grooming clinic every 2nd Saturday** at our Viking location for discounted rates (starting at $25).
All rabbits must be RHDV-2 vaccinated and have a completed intake form or release of responsibiltiy on file. Guinea pigs must have a certificate of wellness (note on your veterinarian’s letterhead suffices) and a completed intake form or release of responsibility on file.
We are currently not servicing chinchillas at Molt + Bolt at this time. (**Dates are subject to change + will be listed.)

We are not available for mobile grooming on 2nd Saturdays.
Spa days are available within 35 miles south of Long Beach, CA (90808) or 20 miles north of Long Beach, CA (90808). If you're outside this range, we our Molt + Bolt (hotel-based grooming every second Saturday) or can discuss case-by-case accommodations.

How do I book a Spa Day?
Submit a request above, or contact us via call, text, or email. We respond within 48 hours.
What's your availability?
We offer our Spa Days (in your home) Friday-Monday, 10 AM-4 PM and Molt + Bolt (hotel based-grooming) every 2nd Saturday (Viking location). Check the Molt + Bolt schedule for specific dates. (We're typically booked 5-8 weeks in advance!)
Can I book same-day grooming?
No. Same-day appointments are not available, unless it is a medical emergency (see below). All intake forms and deposits must be submitted 12 hours prior to your appointment.
Do you offer emergency spa days (grooming) outside of regular hours?
Yes. Emergency grooming outside our Friday-Monday 10 AM-4 PM schedule (for example, 7 PM on Friday night) is available for established clients only. A $150 emergency coordination fee applies on top of regular grooming service charges.

How long does grooming take?
Full Spa Day: 90 minutes
À la carte services: 30-60 minutes depending on service
What a la carte services are available?
Effective January 1, 2027, standalone nail trims, scent glands + ear cleanings are discontinued. They are available for add-on for any fur-only grooming appointments only.
How often should I book grooming?
After a Full Spa Day, you should not need professional grooming for 4-8 weeks. Long-haired breeds (Lionheads, Angoras) may need grooming every 4-6 weeks.
Can I book grooming before a Bonding Retreat?
Yes! We offer a 20% discount on all Spa Day services when scheduled before your Retreat. All rabbits must be groomed before their Retreat begins.
Can I add grooming during a StayCation (boarding)?
Yes! Full Spa Day grooming (fur, nails, scent glands, ears) can be added to your boarding reservation for $100 per rabbit (any weight). You'll complete a release of responsibility form.
Health + Safety
Are vaccinations required?
Yes. As of May 1, 2024, all rabbits must be RHDV-2 vaccinated (or submit veterinarian exemption note). We verify vaccination status for every appointment.
Guinea pigs and chinchillas need a veterinarian's note confirming good health (valid in the last 12 months).
How do you sanitize tools?
All grooming tools are sanitized between every client group using Rescue cleanser (standard at veterinary clinics) and a UV sterilizer for 90 minutes. Tools are also selected specifically for each rabbit's coat type - never a one-size-fits-all approach.
What if my pet is aggressive during grooming?
We're experienced with nervous or resistant pets. However, if your pet's behavior makes grooming unsafe, we'll stop the session and reschedule.

What's your cancellation policy?
Mobile grooming appointments share limited daily slots. When you reserve, we must turn away other clients.
