Booking + Check-In

Can I book same-day?
Same-day check-in is available only for established clients (previous boarding, grooming, or consultation). New clients must book in advance. Emergency situations: text (714) 485-8383.

What are check-in/check-out times?

• Check-in: 3PM-10PM on start date

• Check-out: 7AM-12PM on end date

• Special accommodations available upon request

How do I book?
Submit a request above, text or email. We respond within 48 hours.

Pricing + Payment

What payment methods do you accept?
Prefer: Cash, Check, Venmo, Zelle
Accept: Credit card (3.5% service fee applies)

When is payment due?
At service completion, unless payment plan arranged in advance.

What about deposits?
50% of total stay due at booking. Payment plans available.

What's your cancellation policy?
Please review our cancellation policy before booking.

Are weekly/monthly discounts available?
Yes! Standard Suite XL and Free Roam Suite guests qualify for weekly and monthly discounts. As of October 1, 2026, discounts no longer apply to Standard Suite reservations, in line with our updated space guidelines below.

Suite Requirements + Eligibility

Are there size or weight limits for the Junior Pod or Junior Suite?
Yes, effective October 1, 2026, the Junior Pod is limited to a single rabbit under 3.5 lbs and stays of two weeks or less and the Junior Suite is limited to two rabbits with a combined weight under 5 lbs. These limits align with the Association of Shelter Veterinarians' 2025 guidelines for humane rabbit housing - the first peer-reviewed housing standard the rabbit community has had. Is there a maximum stay length for the Standard Suite?
Yes, effective October 1, 2026, the Standard Suite (28 sq ft) falls just under the ASV's Minimum Recommended standard of 33 sq ft for stays longer than two weeks, so we are limiting Standard Suite stays at two weeks or less. For longer stays, we'll help you book into a Standard Suite XL (40 sq ft) or Free Roam Suite (96 sq ft), both of which meet or exceed the recommended standard. Is complimentary transport included with my stay?
Complimentary transport is available for Standard Suite XL and Free Roam Suite guests. It's not included with Junior Pod, Junior Suite, or Standard Suite bookings - ask us about arranging transport for a fee.

Care + Safety

Is RHDV-2 vaccination required?
Yes, as of May 1, 2024, all rabbits must be vaccinated or provide veterinarian exemption note. We offer low-cost vaccine clinics twice yearly.

What if my pet has a medical emergency?
We:

• Triage immediately with our rabbit first aid kit

• Contact you right away

• Seek medical care without delay

• Transport to your primary vet (business hours) or emergency clinic (after hours)

Note: You will be required to reimburse all medical expenses.

Are you experienced with emergencies?
Yes! We've been rabbit parents for 7+ years, volunteer with LA/OC rescues, and have relationships with exotic vets within 30 miles.

Do you provide pet insurance?
Yes! Basic pet insurance through Pet Sitter's Associates is already included.

Do I need to bring their carrier?
Yes, please leave it with us in case of emergency.

What's Included

Do I need to bring food/supplies?
No! We provide everything: premium pellets (your brand), organic vegetables, unlimited hay, flooring/cushioning, treats, toys, and enrichment.

Optional to bring for comfort:

• Favorite stuffed animal (non-chewers only)

• Favorite cloth hidey

• Favorite chew toys (we replenish as needed)

• Favorite puzzles (plastic preferred)

• Item that smells like you (blanket/clothing you don't mind getting ruined)

What's included for rabbit boarding guests?

• 24/7 onsite staff with your exact routine followed

• Daily cleaning (1-2x depending on tier)

• Daily updates with photos (1-2x depending on tier)

• Social playtime (15 min-1 hour depending on tier)

• Unlimited toys, chews + enrichment (welcome basket for set tiers)

• Organic vegetables (farmer’s market) + premium pellets (your brand)

• Unlimited hay of choice (Timothy, oat, orchard, mixed)

• Wall-mounted Rabbit-Air Purifiers in Standard, Standard XL + Free Roam Suites

• Treat testing twice daily (as appriopriate)

• Unlimited photos on request

What's included for guinea pig boarding?
Same as rabbit boarding PLUS vitamin C supplement.

What's included for chinchilla boarding?
Same as rabbit boarding PLUS their dry baths.

Can I add extra services?
Yes! Add-ons available (additional fees apply):

• Ball pit

Camera Access + Updates

Can I video call my pet?
Yes! Schedule during their social time at no extra cost. Request extra photos anytime (we send minimum one-two daily).

How does camera access work?
Pocket Studio, Standard Suite, Standard Suite XL and Free Roam Suite guests get 24/7 camera access via Blink app.

• Download app before arrival

• Set up account at check-in

• We email login credentials day of check-in

• Full viewing access (please don't change settings)

• Audio disabled (don't use talk function - disturbs other guests)

• May experience lag due to battery power

• We remove access after check-out

Other Services

Can I add grooming?
Yes! Add full spa day (fur, nails, scent glands, ears) for $100 per rabbit. Contact for guinea pig pricing.

• Important: If professional grooming becomes necessary during stay due to excessive shedding, $150 grooming fee applies per Release of Responsibility.

Free Roam Suite guests receive one complimentary spa service (nail trim, scent glands, OR ear cleaning).

Do you board other small mammals?
Yes! We specialize in rabbits but welcome guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, and rats. Contact for species-specific rates.

What if I need to extend my reservation?
Contact us immediately! Extensions require:

• Additional paperwork

• Availability confirmation

• Daily rate for extra days

If extension isn't possible, we can:

• Return pet home + convert to 2 daily in-person consultations, OR

• Use our overflow location (rates vary)

Is Bun Chia Burrow a bunny hotel?
Yes - we are Long Beach's original bunny hotel, offering boarding (Burrow StayCation), bonding, grooming, and consultations for rabbits and other small mammals since we soft-launched in 2022.

Will my pet interact with other animals?
No. All hotel guests are visually separated for safety and stress reduction. Your pet will not see our rabbits or other guests.

What are your quiet hours?
Our boutique hotel maintains quiet hours from 10 AM - 3 PM daily for midday rest and relaxation. Essential care and 24/7 camera access continue. Evening social activities are personalized based on your pet's needs and energy level.

Where are your resident rabbits?
Our trio (learn about them here) are housed in a completely separate building.
