thoughts on rabbit upper respiratory infections

It's Spring - is it allergies? Is it an infection? As prey animals, rabbits don't usually make sounds. So if your little one is, you could be dealing with an infection.

Some common symptoms of URI (snuffles) is weepy eyes (eyes look wet), runny nose (discharge), difficulty breathing, snoring while awake, sneezing, change in behaviors (lethargy/loss of appetite), amongst other behaviors. Another common reason for sneezing but isn't necessarily an infection is a foreign object up their nose (going back to rabbits can't breath through their mouth) or molar/sinus concerns.

URI is treated with antibiotics and pain management (depending on your vet's training). We highly recommend requesting a probiotic if going the antibiotic route.
